Battlefield 4 Player Appreciation Month

February is going to be an exciting month for Battlefield 4. Recognising the feedback and concerns of players, no less than DICE’s Vice President, Karl Magnus Troedsson, has announced some changes to the game as well as some bonuses as a “thank you”.

It’s already been announced that a package of fixes and enhancements is due but DICE have now confirmed this includes further improvements to the “netcode”. It is also rumoured, but not confirmed, that February will also see the next DLC.

Here’s what else February will bring us..

Yes, platoons will return. For Battlefield 3 this was mainly around providing groups within Battlelog but they say that we should expect further features based on feedback.

However, Mr Troedsson does remind us that this will be a “first iteration” so expect further options to be added to this in time.

A Battlepack a Day

Every day that you log into the game in February, you’ll receive a Bronze or Silver Battlepack. During weekdays, these will be Bronze, and during Saturdays and Sundays they will give away Silver Battlepacks.

Shortcut Bundles

Expect to see two shortcut bundles that will be available to download at no cost. These (voluntary) shortcut bundles will unlock all grenades and handguns for Battlefield 4 (the base game). If you’re a premium member then there will be two additional bundles available, unlocking all DMR’s and shotguns.

Double XP Weekend

A weekend of 2XP (date to be arranged) will occur during February. For premium members this will be in addition to the monthly Double XP.

Community Missions

You will be able to participate in global DICE Community Missions where you will work together to unlock Gold Battlepacks. The first one, for example, will have you grabbing a set number of dog tags within a given time.

DICE Developer Talks

During February DICE will host a number of interviews with some of the core developers of Battlefield 4. In these interviews, we can ask them about their line of work, the effort they’ve put into Battlefield 4, or in the case of their core gameplay designer, what the balancing process of Battlefield 4 looks like. Basically, an opportunity to get answers and talk to the people who matter.

So, a lot announced, and exact dates for all of these will be given in due course – once available, I will update this article with them.
