The first Battlefield Hardline DLC will be named Criminal Activity.
Small crews of well-trained, aggressive criminals have been using force of arms to terrorize the citizenry and are in direct conflict with the police in many cases. Public property damages and insurance claims have skyrocketed, not to mention the impact on the police force.
Detectives have uncovered evidence of a secret crime ring that could be behind all of this activity. They’re not sure why anyone would coordinate these goals – in a number of cases, the take seems to be smaller than the risk. But, orders have come down the chain to find out what’s going on and put a stop to it. Will you help the police?

New Game Mode – Bounty Hunter
Criminal Activity will introduce a new mode titled, “Bounty Hunter”. Bounty Hunter is a high intensity infantry focused mode that pits the teams in a war to collect the other team’s bounty coins.
When a player is taken out a team-coloured coin is dropped in the world by their body. When an enemy coin is collected it is added to your team’s score. Friendly coins can be collected to deny the enemy the ability to score your team’s coin. The first team to collect enough enemy coins to hit the limit wins the match.
Although simple at its core, this mode provides some unique team and individual strategy.
It is imperative to stay with your team to prevent the enemy from securing coins from fallen teammates. The best strategies are to move as a unit, bringing ammo, health, and area denial grenades like gas and molotovs. Keep your teammates healthy, well supplied, and prevent the enemy from getting their hands on your bounties.
Use the lure of coins to your advantage. Leave a coin in the open and wait in ambush for an unsuspecting enemy player. Be aware of the enemy using the same tactic. Think twice before darting into the middle of the open to collect a coin, you may just become an easy point for the opposing team.
The size and scope of maps offered in Battlefield Hardline: Criminal Activity allow for a variety of play styles and provide an excellent playground for this new mode. In Black Friday, set in a Miami shopping mall, tight hallways and focused chokepoints provide excellent routes for run-and-gun players. Code Blue and The Beat, offer a blend of close quarters and medium range engagements that complement the new selection of battle rifles. Add an Angled Foregrip and a 4x Optic and you’re ready dominate at longer ranges in the hills of Backwoods.
New Map – Code Blue
One of the four new maps featured in Battlefield Hardline: Criminal Activity is Code Blue.
Code Blue is set on man-made island just outside the Miami city limits. The Blue Eclipse Nightclub and Lounge is the island’s premier destination: a neon-lit oasis with multiple levels, dance floors, and private rooms for Florida’s most elite clubbers.
Code Blue features intricate sets with tons of micro-destruction, allowing teams to make alternate pathways through the club by destroying walls and fences. For the tactically-minded, a nearby construction site and food court allow gadget users to quickly close the distance via zipline and grappling hook. Once inside, don’t get distracted by the dazzling light show or four-on-the-floor beat – you might miss the laser site or breaching charge exploding right behind you!
As an infantry-focused map, Code Blue plays best with modes like Blood Money and Conquest. The map was designed to ensure that each space had enough gameplay variety to satisfy players of every class. Code Blue also stands apart from other Battlefield maps with its rich atmosphere; the dynamic night club set was inspired by shoot-out scenes from contemporary action movies, with its overstimulated palette of colour, music, light, and action.
Keep an eye open for the random motorcycle spawn, which really adds an element of crazy to the mix.
New Map – Black Friday
At the Palm Courts Mall in down-town Miami, the summer “Shop ‘til You Drop” promotion has taken on a twisted new meaning. Gone are the throngs of manic shoppers picking clean every shelf, and fighting each other off for a chance to score a ten percent discount. In their place are a phalanx of elite police officers, squared off against an entrenched gang of thieves caught in a heist-gone-wrong. This is the setting of Black Friday, one of four new maps featured in Battlefield Hardline: Criminal Activity.
The action in Black Friday takes place in the consumerist heart of America: a sprawling, multi-level mall, packed with kiosks and stores built with lots of glass and zero class. Teams of cops and criminals will rampage over fallen advertisements, through the overturned remains of jewellery and apparel stores, and into the dimly-lit back corridors used by store clerks and mall security. Adding to the chaos, Black Friday is set in the aftermath of a tropical hurricane, which has left Palm Courts Mall more battered and bruised than an Enforcer after an interrogation.
As can be expected from an over-stuffed shopper’s paradise built in hurricane country, Black Friday features lots of destruction. The Food Court, in particular, is highly destructible, featuring a 360-degree wall of televisions that can be blasted apart with a well-time grenade. And although the mall is sprawling, it’s been designed as a tightly-structured infantry experience. The multitude of corridors, short sightlines, and alternate paths make this a great map for taking thoughtful, measured steps to your goal. If the distances seem too long, you may find that the mechanic’s spawn beacon comes in handy; drop it in your favourite store, and get a punch in your frequent-shopper card! Black Friday plays well with all game modes, but is particularly well-suited to Conquest, Blood Money, and the latest mode, Bounty Hunter.
Criminal Activity will add six new masks to the Wolf and Dinosaur masks that already exists. Besides from looking wicked sweet, these garments will give your Cop or Criminal some perks on the streets of Hardline. See below for what kind of boosts you can expect.
- Rabbit: +10% Gearhead XP Bonus
- Gorilla: +20% Rep XP Bonus
- Wolf: +10% Teamplay XP Bonus
- Dinosaur: +20% Quickdraw XP Bonus
- Motorcycle Helmet: +10% Gearhead XP Bonus
- Tactical Helmet: +20% Rep XP Bonus
- Riot Helmet: +10% Teamplay XP Bonus
- Ballistic Helmet: +20% Quickdraw XP Bonus
With Battlefield Hardline: Criminal Activity, the theme is fast-paced, infantry combat as the cops and criminals are fighting for or preventing small time crime jobs. This also means weapons and attachments suited for close quarters.
New Pump Action Bullpup Shotgun
This is a new weapon for the cops on the Enforcer class. This futuristic shotgun is using cutting edge technology to dispense justice to the criminals. It can hold 14 rounds of 2 ¾” 12 gauge buckshot. While sneaking up on criminals you might want the option for more range. This shotgun can use slugs as well as the new Breaching Rounds. These options make this shotgun very versatile. If you want to stay and fight in close quarters the Breaching Rounds will be your friend. They can also easily disable doors trapped with Sabotage or a Trip Mine. Got a pesky criminal setting traps on doors inside Code Blue? Before you open that sabotaged door to get the heist bag shoot it with the Breaching Rounds. Then you can safely enter the door grab the bag and dance in the club. Breaching Rounds paired will solve that problem.
New Battle Rifle
A new Battle Rifle is coming for the criminal faction on the Enforcer class with an iconic profile and look. The wooden furniture on this weapon gives it a classic look, but it has a modern and lethal function. It fires 7.62MM X 51MM rounds. This gives it amazing stopping power and range. This rifle is also very effective in mid-to-long range combat. It has a variety of options to choose from like AP Tracer Rounds, an upgraded stock, extended magazine, and more. While most effective at mid-to-long range, this rifle can still be very effective in close quarters if you can control the heavy recoil. Try switching to semi-auto mode with a mid-range scope and exploit the range of this rifle.
New Assault Rifle
How about a new Assault Rifle for the police faction of the Enforcer class, you say? This Assault Rifle has a unique look that is magnified by its keg style charging handle. The rate of fire is slower than some battle rifles, but that makes it easier to control. It also has less recoil then some of the other battle rifles. It fires 7.62MM X 51MM and makes it very effective at mid-to-long ranges. The unique magazine gives this rifle twenty four rounds and a total capacity of twenty five rounds when a tactical reload is performed, giving it an advantage over the other battle rifles. The low rate of fire combined with the lower recoil makes this weapon a very controllable and deadly weapon. Equip it with Armour Piercing Tracer Rounds to stop those criminals with body armour.
AP Tracer Rounds
The Armour Piercing Tracer Rounds are available for Assault Rifles, Battle Rifles, and the designated marksman rifles. Cops and criminals both have access to these munitions. Armoured Piercing rounds are capable of dealing greater damage to armoured targets. They also have a highly visible tracer that helps the user track the round as well as making them more visible to the enemy. These rounds are very effective against body armour as well as increasing damage vs armoured vehicles. Find yourself constantly loosing fights to someone with armoured insert? Equip the AP Tracer Rounds and even the odds.
The Breaching Rounds are a short range explosive 12-gauge round that is designed to open doors. These rounds can be used to safely open a door that has been sabotaged. They are also effective in close quarter combat. Whether you are a Cop or a Criminal you will be able to equip these rounds in your shotgun. The user has to manually switch to the breaching round. This allows for the use of standard buckshot when the breaching round is not in the weapons chamber. If you find yourself unsure if a door is sabotaged, open it with the Breaching Rounds. You may also give your enemy an explosive demise by getting close and unleashing the power of the Breaching Rounds.
The Nail Gun has a 10 nail capacity and has a total of 4 mags. Look for this Nail Gun scattered around the maps in Battlefield Hardline: Criminal Activity. This weapon fires nails with the aid of a .27 caliber cartridge. The Nail Gun is effective and deadly in close quarters. This weapon is capable of killing a foe with one shot to the head. It doesn’t make much noise so you won’t show up on the mini map when firing. With only a .27 caliber cartridge the nails don’t go far and fall fast. However when you get close you can put your enemy down quickly.
New Submachine Gun
Not part of the DLC, this gun is being included in the gameplay patch that will accompany Criminal Activity.
The new Submachine Gun is a throwback. This classic design can be used by the cops or criminals. It can also be used on any class. The slow rate of fire makes it easy to control and keep your rounds on target. However there are limited options for customization on this weapon. You can put a grip and extended magazine on it and that’s it. Expect the streets to be filled with .45 Calibre slugs from this historical SMG.
The Lowrider is a new sedan-class transport vehicle designed with mid-60s flair. Available for the criminal faction, it is fully customizable and comes outfitted with all the bells and whistles already acquired on the sports sedan. Cruise down the streets along with three passengers who can move up and sit against the door, making this ride an impressive combination of style and fire-power. Equipped with a two-tone leather interior, custom musical horn and a hydraulic suspension controlled by the driver, the Lowrider puts a fresh new spin on the traditional workhorse transport vehicle.
The Pick-up Truck is a new civilian transport vehicle found in Backwoods. Designed originally as a work tool, the open cargo area of this heavy-duty passenger vehicle makes it ideal to carry your squad around the hazardous dirt roads. The enclosed cab seats two and the front passenger can move up and sit on the door to get a better attack angle. Two passengers can sit on the low sides of the truck bed and aim all around the vehicle. An additional passenger can crouch behind the tailgate and cover the rear of the vehicle against chasing foes making the Pick-up Truck deadly when full.
