What to Expect in the Next Battlefield 4 DLC – Dragons Teeth

The next Battlefield 4 DLC, Dragon’s Teeth, is expected (but not confirmed) to be released next Month. So what is about? The official description is…

Experience all-out urban warfare in new multiplayer maps taking place in war-torn cities locked down by the Chinese army.

It will include 10 new assignments and four new maps.

It’s rumoured that the Premium release will be on May 3rd (although it’s getting pretty close to that now and nothing has been announced) and that the maps are…

  • Urban Garden

One thing that is known about, thanks to a talk from a DICE animator, is that it will also come with a new gadget – a ballistic shield. Once in use, your character will hold the shield with 2 hands and this will deflect bullets (I suspect a rocket attack may be beyond its capabilities, though). You can, however, use your shield as a melee weapon, to take down an opponent.

But that means you can’t shoot at the same time. Why not? Because to do so would have introduced another 1MB of animation – fine for PC and next-gen consoles, but simply not possible on the PS3 and Xbox 360 (and this might also explain why no extra animation was added for pushing boats).

What this does prove to us is the quicker a Battlefield is released that ONLY supports next-gen platforms, the sooner we’ll get a no-holes-barred game.
